Kumbağ

Kumbağ, which is 15km away from Süleymanpaşa, is an important tourism center. The wide sandy beaches of Kumbağ, which is closed to the north winds, are like natural beaches. There are various touristic facilities and public beaches in Kumbağ, especially forest recreation facilities. Kumbağ, which is connected to the central district of Tekirdağ, Süleymanpaşa, is one of the most popular and wonderful holiday resorts of the Marmara Region and provides holiday opportunities to local and foreign tourists. During the summer months, with tourists coming from Istanbul and other surrounding cities, it has a population 25-30 times more than its own population.

Known for its proximity to cities such as Istanbul, Çanakkale, Kırklareli and Edirne, Kumbağ is one of the favorite holiday resorts of many people in the summer months. Tourism in Kumbağ is quite developed. The townspeople earn their living from tourism, agriculture, fishing and small cattle breeding.

In Kumbağ, besides water sports such as water skiing, windsurfing and scuba diving, it is also possible to do nature sports such as tracking, biking and paragliding.

Kumbağ is the tourism paradise of Tekirdağ province of the Marmara region in summer. There is hardly any accommodation problem in Kumbağ. There are enough hotels and hostels in the town. You can also fish, have a picnic, sip your tea by the sea and enjoy your holiday to the fullest.

History

Kumbağ is a small village established on the Marmara shores of the Ganos Mountains, with a long history.

Before the Balkan War in 1913, Kumbağ was a Greek Fishing Village with 600 households called Kumbos, and it was inhabited by immigrants from Greece and Bulgaria in 1935, and from Romania in 1935, until 1923. Kumbağ Town of Tekirdağ gained the right to become a municipality in 1993.

Kumbağ, whose municipal organization was abolished with the new metropolitan law, was transformed into a neighborhood.

The population in 2019 is 2,281 people.

Geography

Tekirdag center is 15 km from Suleymanpasa. Kumbağ is 13 meters above sea level. Its geographical location is at latitude 40.868156 and longitude 27457108. There are too many upgrades.

Especially due to Kumbağ's proximity to Istanbul, the number of visitors from Istanbul is high. There are also people from other countries.  Surfers love the town in summer. In summer, the wind is the style surfers will love. Also, Tekirdag Meatballs and Tekirdag Raki are famous. There is a distance of 160 km between Istanbul and Kumbağ and the journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes (with an average speed of 100 km/h). There is also paragliding in the town.

 

Transportation

For those coming from Istanbul:

If you come from the old road (D-100); From Avcılar, Büyükçekmece, Kumburgaz, Selimpaşa, Silivri and Kınalı, continue in the direction of Tekirdağ and turn in the direction of Kumbağ at the exit of Tekirdağ city. If you come from TEM (E-80); Enter from Mahmutbey (72km highway) and follow the D-100 road from the Kınalı-Tekirdağ exit. You will reach Tekirdağ by passing through Marmaraereğlisi on the 61km coastal road from Kınalı. At the junction at the exit of Tekirdağ, after turning in the direction of Kumbağ, you will reach Kumbağ after 16 km.

For those coming from Izmir - Canakkale direction:

The distance between Tekirdağ and Çanakkale is 150 km. From Çanakkale direction, E-84 highway is followed and from Tekirdağ entrance, Kumbağ direction is followed. Minibuses depart from Süleymanpaşa to Kumbağ every 5-10 minutes. You can also go to Kumbağ from the Süleymanpaşa coast by minibus and Istanbul buses.
